Matt litigates complex corporate, commercial and trust disputes before the Delaware Court of Chancery and the Delaware Superior Court.
He regularly represents corporate and individual clients in corporate and business litigation involving corporate governance, contests for board control, demands for appraisal or similar valuation, demands for books and records, requests for dissolution and receiverships, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and a broad variety of other issues.
Matt also focuses on fiduciary litigation. He represents trustees, executors, and beneficiaries in all types of trusts and estates disputes. His experience includes cases concerning directed trusts, construction and interpretation of trusts and wills, trustee breach of fiduciary duties, trustee compensation, undue influence, and trustee self-dealing.
Prior to joining Morris Nichols, Matt served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Henry duPont Ridgely of the Delaware Supreme Court.
In 2015 and 2016, Matt was recognized in Delaware Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for business litigation.
Matt volunteers a portion of his time to pro bono matters. He recently partnered with ACLU Delaware on a civil rights litigation and has previously litigated a civil rights action under referral by the Federal Civil Panel and represented children and indigent litigants in the Delaware Family Court.
