Pro Bono & Community Service
Pro Bono Work
Many of the attorneys at Morris Nichols participate in a wide range of community service agencies, including serving on the boards of directors of the Community Legal Aid Society, American Civil Liberties Union, YMCA, Delaware Community Foundation, Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, Delaware Special Olympics, and Goodwill of Delaware, to name just a few. Morris Nichols lawyers are also the leaders of many of the administrative arms of the Delaware Courts, including the Board of Bar Examiners and the Rules Committees of the Courts, as well as many important committees of the Delaware Bar Association.
Combined Campaign for Justice
Former Morris Nichols partner Don Parsons performed a great service to the Delaware bar as well as the community when, as President of the Delaware Bar Association, he succeeded in bringing together the three major legal service agencies in the state. Each was pursuing its own funding independently, leading to years when one or the other of them were under funded. By helping them align their efforts and pool their resources into the “Combined Campaign for Justice,” Parsons greatly enhanced the consistency and reliability of legal services in Delaware and earned both national and state awards in 2000 for this work. In October 2003, following the steps of Morris Nichols attorneys before him, Parsons accepted an appointment as Vice Chancellor on the Court of Chancery.
