To commemorate 800 years of the Magna Carta, The University of Oxford and The University of Pennsylvania Law School, together with Skadden and Erskine Chambers, will host a celebration of this historic document which established basic liberties in England in 1215.

Casting great influence on modern law, Magna Carta principles are echoed in the American Constitution. The “800 Years of Magna Carta” celebration will feature two mock trials comparing the English and U.S. court approaches. Morris Nichols partner Bill Lafferty will present a mock oral argument in the U.S. portion of the program. He joins an esteemed group of academic moderators, judges, and advocates from the English and U.S. legal communities, including Edward B. Rock (U Penn), John Armour (Oxford), Chancellor Andre G. Bouchard, Chief Justice Leo E. Strine Jr., The Hon. Mr. Justice David Richards, and The Right Hon. Lady Justice Gloster.
