Michael Houghton to Serve as Special Guest Speaker for Webinar: Delaware’s New Abandoned Property Voluntary Disclosure Program
Special Guest Speaker: Michael Houghton
December 11, 2012, Online Webinar
Wilmington, DE – November 29, 2012 – Michael Houghton, Morris Nichols Commercial Law Counseling Group partner, will serve as special guest speaker on an SC&H Group CPE webinar entitled, Are You Aware of Delaware’s New Abandoned Property Voluntary Disclosure Program?, Tuesday, December 11, 2012, 12:00-1:00 PM EST. Joining Mike is Jennifer Arias, SC&H Group’s national unclaimed property senior manager.
The webinar will help participants understand the implications of the recent passage of Delaware Senate Bill 258 – the newly-enacted abandoned and unclaimed property voluntary disclosure program (aka “VDA”) – that was created as a short-term incentive for holders of abandoned and unclaimed property to voluntarily report in exchange for a reduced look-back period, waiver of interest and penalties and protection from audit selection. Companies, especially those incorporated in Delaware, should give full consideration to the VDA and the alternative risk associated with being selected in the future for a costly audit that would reach back to either 1981 or to the company’s inception. Attend this free webinar to learn whether your company may be a good candidate for this short-term program.
